Over the last eleven years, Invisible Borders Trans-African Organisation has conducted administrative operations remotely and virtually for the most part. This approach aligns with our core aims of connecting and interacting beyond the confines of national borders, but also, as we like to say, “putting knowledge in the air”.
However, as we enter the next decade of our existence; as our activities branch out to incorporate affiliate projects such as the Multimedia studio, a publishing house, library, educational projects, to name a few, it has become vital for us to have a physical, operational base from where we can coordinate our activities, and archive necessary materials. This does not translate to the abandonment of our well established remote way of working.
However, it has become crucial to set up a space that will serve as a communal enclave for the incubation of fresh ideas, conversation-based/community learning, hosting of artistic residencies through which budding artists are put in contact with their established counterparts. The space will also serve for the cultivation of an extensive library and, in general, the performance of togetherness.
