Publications have always been central to the Invisible Borders Trans-African Project. While our earlier publications were online in the form our road trip blogs and web apps, in 2016, we made our debut in print publication with three chapbooks. As of 2020, we have ten chapbooks to our name. These chapbooks are extended versions of the writer-participants’ take on the road trips. Thus, they are a growing body of non-fiction work about borders through the critical gaze of writers who participated in the Invisible Borders Trans-African Road Trip from 2016 to 2020.
In 2021, Invisible Borders will expand its portfolio of publications with the launch of the Invisible Borders Book. This coffee table book chronicles Invisible Borders’ projects since 2009. In the same year, we hope to launch our children book series, The Journey Series. All these publications need a dedicated home. Thus, we are launching the Trans-African Publishers.
TAP will not only be a house for all of our publications, but it will also cater to African writers interested in writing about travel, art, images and visual culture. It will also oversee our research to sustain and grow a library of Black and African literary works. Furthermore, TAP as a publishing house will provide book publication and distribution services for writers, illustrators and photographers.
